Progressing with surfing involves experiencing many different kinds of waves, in various conditions. By now, you probably have some experience paddling out back, reading incoming sets, and navigating the lineup safely and respectfully. You’re comfortable popping up and starting to link your turns. The beach breaks have been fun, but now you’re looking for waves that run a little further…
The Moroccan Advantage
You’re in luck! Morocco is home to dreamy, peeling right-hand point breaks and consistent, rippable reefs. Here are three great surf spots near the Mint Surf camp, perfect for sharpening your skills and taking your surfing to the next level.
Banana Point
This spot is one of Tamraght’s most loved surf spots. Located near the village of Aourir (also known as Banana Village for its banana plantations), this classic right-hand point break offers long, mellow waves—ideal for intermediate surfers.
The spot works best at low tide and is popular with longboarders. It’s a great place to catch green waves and refine your turns. The wave runs into Banana Beach, where you’ll find a shallower break with both right and left waves, depending on the tide. It holds up in conditions up to 1.5 meters, but watch out for occasional rocks in the shallows!

Km11 & Km12
These two spots sit just south of Banana Beach in the Taghazout Bay Area. They’re named after their distance in kilometres from Agadir.
Km11 is a point break suited for all levels. It offers long, satisfying rides during medium-sized swells and works best at low tide. It’s located right next to Aourir, known for its tagines, bananas, and weekly Wednesday souk.
Km12 is a more consistent A-frame reef that breaks both left and right. It’s perfect for intermediates wanting to practice cutbacks and improve their wave control. It also handles slightly bigger swells than Km11.

Though best for advanced surfers during big swells, intermediates can enjoy smaller days. These are ideal for practicing steeper take-offs and faster, longer rides.
